🚲 Fire Destroys Eddy’s Bike Shop in Peninsula

In heartbreaking news for our neighbors down the road, Eddy’s Bike Shop in Peninsula was completely destroyed by a fire on February 28, 2025. The beloved shop, located in the historic Millie’s Inn building from 1893, had been undergoing renovations and was set to reopen on March 17.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the fire, but the loss of such a historic and community-loved space has hit hard. Eddy’s shared their heartbreak on social media, thanking everyone for their support during what they called an “incredibly heartbreaking night.”

The Peninsula Foundation, which owns the building, expressed deep sadness over the loss of this iconic property. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the community is already rallying around the Eddy’s team as they begin the long road to recovery. We'll be keeping an eye out for ways to help and support them as they rebuild. ❤️

☀️ Sunshine Week Proclaimed in Hudson

📅 March 10-16, 2025

March 10-16 has officially been declared Sunshine Week, which isn't just about hoping for warmer weather. It’s all about government transparency, public access to information, and making sure we’re all in the know. We love to see it! 👏

🏡 City of Hudson and Destination Hudson Reach Agreement on Visitor Center

The City of Hudson has announced an agreement with Destination Hudson to acquire the inventory of the Destination Hudson Gift Shop at 27 E. Main Street. The City will maintain the space as a visitor center to continue supporting residents and tourists. 🏛️

🎉 Hudson Community Foundation Celebrates 25th Anniversary

The Hudson Community Foundation (HCF) is celebrating 25 years of serving the community! Since its founding in 2000, HCF has provided vital resources for local charities and initiatives, shaping Hudson into the thriving town it is today. 🎂

🚆 Hudson Receives Federal Grant for Railroad Crossing Elimination

The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded Hudson $13.7 million to help eliminate the railroad crossing at Hines Hill Road. This project will improve safety and reduce traffic congestion. 🚦

🏅 Sports Update

🏊 Hudson Swim & Dive Teams Crush It at State Championships!

The Hudson High School Swim & Dive teams made serious waves at the 2025 OHSAA State Championships in Canton! 🌊

Boys' Highlights:

  • 🥇 Ivan Reber placed 13th in the 500 Free (a.k.a. a whole lot of laps).
  • 🥈 Sam Wheeler snagged 9th in the 200 IM with a personal best time!
  • 🥉 The Boys' 400 Free Relay team secured 7th place overall.

Girls' Highlights:

  • 🏅 Emma Ritchie took 10th in the 100 Backstroke (flipping her way to victory).
  • 🏅 The Girls' Medley Relay team placed in the top 8 in the finals.

Both teams finished in the top 15 overall, capping off an amazing season. Way to go, Explorers! 🎉

🏀 Hudson Boys’ Basketball Falls in District Championship

The Hudson High School boys’ basketball team wrapped up their postseason yesterday with a tough loss to Warren Harding in the OHSAA District II Championship at Elyria Catholic High School.

Warren Harding put on a dominant performance, defeating Hudson 70-37. Despite a strong season, Hudson couldn't overcome Harding's momentum in this one.

Congratulations to the Hudson team for a hard-fought season and deep tournament run. We couldn't be prouder of you! 👏


🎨 Arts & Culture

🖼️ Cuyahoga Valley Art Center’s Figurative Exhibition
