☀️ The Scoop on Hudson Weather

Hudson’s forecast this week is the full spring sampler — cool mornings, rainy afternoons, the occasional snowflake (yes, really), and maybe even a thunderstorm or two. Basically, it’s Ohio doing Ohio things.

It’s a good week to keep layers close and coffee closer. Here’s what’s ahead ⬇️

  • Today, April 4 – Sun peeking through high clouds and cooler temps. High: 57°F | Low: 50°F (A pretty calm start to the weekend. Light jacket weather.)

  • ⛈️ Saturday, April 5 – Mild early on with some sun, then rain and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. High: 69°F | Low: 35°F (Pack the umbrella and maybe reschedule those outdoor plans.)

  • 🌧️ Sunday, April 6 – Drizzly in the morning, then just cloudy and cold. High: 43°F | Low: 31°F (A cozy day in kind of vibe.)

  • 🌨️ Monday, April 7 – A few morning snowflakes, then cloudy and chilly. High: 44°F | Low: 25°F (Spring, we barely knew you.)

  • 🌬️ Tuesday, April 8 – Breezy and cold with a chance of morning snow. High: 36°F | Low: 27°F (Time to pull that winter coat back out—for real.)

  • 🌨️ Wednesday, April 9 – Snow early, then transitioning to rain. High: 46°F | Low: 33°F (It’s a weather two-for-one. Drive safe.)

  • ☁️ Thursday, April 10 – Mostly cloudy and a bit warmer. High: 54°F | Low: 39°F (Still gray, but we’ll take the warmth.)

  • 🌧️ Friday, April 11 – Cloudy skies with occasional rain. High: 55°F | Low: 40°F (Another soggy Friday, but at least it’s not snow.)

Lots of layers, maybe a backup umbrella, and definitely a warm drink or two. This week’s forecast is peak spring chaos. 🌦️

❤️ Locals We Love

🍕 Zeppe’s Bistro & Pizzeria

Looking for your next go-to pizza night spot? Zeppe’s Bistro has been serving up Italian comfort food in Hudson since 1993, and it’s easy to see why locals keep coming back.

From crispy, cheesy pizzas to hearty pastas, fresh salads, and even a mac & cheese appetizer that deserves its own spotlight—there’s something for everyone. Dine in, carry out, or host your next party in their private room or covered patio. Oh, and don’t miss the daily specials and happy hour deals!

With the closing of JoAnn Fabrics, Zeppe’s is feeling the ripple effect. JoAnn's was a loyal customer for all 31 years Zeppe’s has been in business—regularly catering events and boosting the lunch rush. And they’re not alone. Many local restaurants depend on nearby businesses to thrive.

So this is your friendly reminder: when you grab lunch, order takeout, or plan a dinner out—choose local. Supporting places like Zeppe’s helps keep Hudson vibrant (and delicious).

🗂️ Planning Commission Recap: March 31 Meeting Highlights

Here’s what went down at Monday night’s Planning Commission meeting (March 31):

  • 🧑‍⚖️ Executive Session Held – Members entered a closed session to discuss pending litigation related to a prior Planning Commission decision.

  • 🏛️ Text Amendment #1: More Flexibility for Historic Reviews
The first proposed amendment would allow Hudson’s Architectural & Historic Board of Review to hire consultants certified by the State Historic Preservation Office — not just licensed architects.
📋 Why? It gives the board more options for timely and cost-effective expert help during project reviews.
✅ The amendment passed unanimously and will move on to City Council.

  • 🏘️ Text Amendment #2: Limiting Where Townhomes Are Allowed
The second proposal removes townhomes as an allowable housing type in all zoning districts except for District 5 (the village core).
📊 Townhomes are currently permitted or conditionally allowed in Districts 1, 3, 4, 5, and 8. This change was initiated by City Council.
🗣️ Some commissioners raised concerns about limiting housing options, especially for seniors, but the motion passed unanimously.

  • 📌 Next Steps: Reviewing Density
The commission voted to place a broader discussion of housing density and zoning flexibility on a future agenda.

📅 Coming Up on April 14:

  • A proposal to ban marijuana-related businesses within city limits
  • A conditional use/site plan request for Christ Community Chapel’s outdoor turf field and seasonal stage
  • Hudson City Schools’ driveway expansion at East Woods Elementary — may include removal of the historic Sewell House (likely to be heard on May 12 instead)

📝 Stay tuned — we’ll keep you posted as these topics move forward!
